Liturgical Ministry
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist

These ministers distribute the Eucharist (the Body and Blood of Christ) at the Mass.  A person
must be at least 18 years old, have received the sacrament of Confirmation, and have completed
the training of this ministry.  Training is held periodically throughout the year.

We are in need of people in this ministry at all Masses.  If you are interested in serving, please
contact the Joe Kulik at 770-898-5511.

Lectors

The lector reads the Word of God to the congregation during Mass.  We are beginning a new
program at St. James which will require 2 lectors at each Mass.  One person will do the readings
and the other will greet the congregation, read the announcements and the Prayers of the
Faithful.  This change will require additional people to serve in this ministry.  You must be a
practicing Catholic and attend training in this ministry.  Training is held periodically throughout
the year.

If you are interested in this ministry, please contact Joe Kulik at 770-898-5511.

Altar Servers

Altar servers assist the priest during Mass.  This ministry is performed by boys and girls who
have received the sacrament of First Holy Communion.  Teens and adults are also encourage to
participate in this ministry.  A training class is held at least once a year.

For more information on this ministry, please contact Tom Wilwol at 770-957-8372.

Hospital Ministry - Ministry to the Sick

These ministries serve outside the Church.  Any Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist may
serve in these ministries once training and a background check have been completed.

Those serving in the Hospital Ministry distribute the Eucharist to those Catholics who are in
Henry Medical Center, area nursing homes, and hospices.

Those serving in the Ministry to the Sick bring the Eucharist to those parishioners of St. James
who are sick at home or otherwise homebound and cannot attend Mass on a regular basis.

Both of these ministries not only bring the Eucharist to those Catholics who are unable to
attend Mass, but also bring to them a friendly face, kind words and prayer, and much needed
encouragement.

If you are interested in serving in these ministries, please contact the Parish Office at
770-957-5441.
