Mission Statement
All authority in heaven and earth is given to me. Go, therefore, make disciples of all nations; baptize them in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the commands I give you. And know that I am with you always. Yes, to the end of time.
Matthew 28:18-
With these words, Jesus commissioned his followers to make disciples, baptize, and teach all nations. Today, the Catholic Church, faithful to his command, brings the “Good News of Salvation” by proclaiming the Gospel, by celebrating the Sacred Mysteries in Liturgy and Worship, and by offering service to those in need.
The Faith Formation Ministry at St. James Catholic Church takes up Jesus’ mission. We aim “to share the Light of Faith” through instruction, celebration of prayer and liturgy, and commitment to others’ needs through service and works for mercy.
Purpose
The purpose of our programs is to provide the best program of religious instruction that assists parents in their responsibility of bringing up their children in the Catholic faith.
Our programs of instructions, Discovering God’s World, Faith First, the EDGE Middle School Program, and Life Teen are rooted in Scripture, prayer, and Catholic doctrine. We use The Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1994, Sharing the Light of Faith, The National Catechetical Directory of the United States, and The Guidelines of the Archdiocese of Atlanta. The curriculum materials are approved by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Archdiocese of Atlanta.
Catechists generously volunteer their time and talent. They are the backbone of the catechetical ministry. We ask for your prayers and support of these men and women in this important ministry of sharing the faith with our children and youth.
