St. James Sunday Morning Nursery
St. James the Apostle provides a nursery service for children from 6 months until their 4th birthday during the 8:00 am Sunday Mass.  The nursery is in the preschool area of the Education Building.  Children are welcome 15 minutes before Mass begins.
The nursery is a fun place, filled with toys, books, crayons, and coloring books. We also have a small library of videos appropriate for the children to watch. Weather permitting, we may take the children to the enclosed outside playground.  Parents can be assured that no matter what the activity, their child is never left unattended and is in a safe environment.

Parents must sign in their child and will be given a numbered angel which must be returned when the parent picks up their child.  The child will be signed out at this time.  Two volunteers staff the nursery for each Sunday morning Mass with a limit of 12 children per Mass.
Parents may leave a small bag with diapers, a change of clothing, etc.  Only baby bottles and lidded sippy cups are allowed in the nursery area.  Eating is not permitted.  Children displaying symptoms of illness cannot be left in the nursery.
Volunteers
Volunteers are constantly needed for this ministry.  Parents who use this service are encouraged to volunteer so that other parents with small children can also fully devote their attention to the Mass.  It is
a rewarding experience to be able to give the parents of our parish the peace of mind knowing that their children are in safe hands so they can devote themselves fully to the Word of the Lord.

Approximately 36-40 volunteers are needed so that each person is scheduled to serve once every 2 months.

God is in the Church Nursery

Where is God on Sunday morning?  Of course, God is everywhere.  We know that God is enthroned in the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3).

When we gather to worship - God is with us.

We know that God is there when we pray.  Jesus said, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” (Matthew 18:20)

When we pray - God is with us.

We know that God is there when His Word is read, preached, loved, and obeyed.  The Lord says, “I am watching over my word to perform it.” (Jeremiah 1:12)

When the Bible speaks - God is with us.

We know that God is everywhere.  “Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him?” declares the Lord. “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” declares the Lord. (Jeremiah 23:24)  “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3)

No matter where we go - God is with us.

But did you know  that God is back in the church nursery?  “And Jesus took a child and put him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them, “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me, but him who sent me.” (Mark 9:36-37)

When you welcome a child in the name of Jesus,

you welcome Jesus Himself.

When we minister to children - God is with us.
